About Professional Membership
Joining the Institution of Engineers Papua New Guinea (IEPNG) as a Member gives you recognition as a Professional Engineer. The Institution encourages Members to register and participate in activities such as seminars, workshops and conferences organised to support graduates in their pursuit of academic and professional excellence.
Under the Professional Engineers Act, Professional Engineers must be registered to be involved in any engineering works.
Membership Requirements
Admission to Member status of the Institution of Engineers Papua New Guinea requires that the applicant satisfy the following criteria:
- i.A Washington Accord degree, or equivalent, from an educational institution approved by the Board.
- ii.Such other degree as the Board may approve as acceptable.
- iii.A pass in any examination, or other exempting qualification, approved by the Board.
- iv.In accordance with the Regulations for the alternative route to membership, the applicant shall have completed typically ten (10) years of engineering formation at a professional level, been employed in positions of engineering responsibility, and shall demonstrate a sound engineering education and adequate experience.
Membership Progression Pathway
Under the Professional Engineers Registration Act, an engineering professional must be both registered and a Member of IEPNG in order to practise engineering in Papua New Guinea.
