Overview

What the CA01 form is for

Use this form when applying for Assessment for Admission (AFA) to become registered as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Registration Board of PNG (PERB), and to become a financial member of the Institution of Engineers PNG Inc, under the category class of Member or Fellow.

IEPNG / PERB Policy: to be registered, a person must also be a member of IEPNG.

Assessment for Admission (AFA)

What happens during your first assessment

New engineering professionals who need to register with IEPNG will first undergo this assessment. Here, the person is applying to be registered and to become a member of IEPNG for the first time, to one or more of the PERB competence-based registers and/or IEPNG membership classes.

This involves a knowledge assessment — unless you hold the appropriate exemplar qualification — where evidence is instead presented by way of work samples. If evidence is weak, the panel may require a face-to-face interview or discussion with the applicant.

How to Apply

Your portfolio of evidence — five forms

The portfolio of evidence from engineering professionals applying for Assessment for Admission (AFA) must be presented using the following five forms.

CA01

Application Form

Application for assessment for admission to a Professional Register of PERB and/or a Membership category with IEPNG.

CA03

Competence Self-Review Form

A key document — gives Assessors examples of evidence showing how you meet the various requirements of the relevant standard.

CA04

Work History Summary Form

You may instead send in a "detailed CV" (the kind you'd use for a job search), as long as it contains the same type of information requested by the CA04 form.

CA05

CPD Summary Form

Summary of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities, covering the last three years.

CA06

Referee Declaration & Evaluation Form

Completed by your referees, and submitted by them directly to IEPNG.

Submitting Your Application

Electronic or hard copy

Submitting Electronically

You can submit copies of your portfolio of evidence electronically. If the file is larger than 2MB, please do not email it — send it on a memory stick or CD instead.

Submitting Hard Copy

If submitting printed copies, send in 3 copies of the documents. Collate papers into 3 separate bundles, each containing 1 copy of every form, and send all 3 copies to the IEPNG national office at the address listed on the application form.

Note: if you require a Knowledge Assessment, you will need to provide an extra set of application documents — 4 sets in total.
