What this standard sets out to do
The following competence standard sets the entry standard for engineers seeking formal peer recognition as a competent professional engineer, by undertaking an IEPNG competence assessment. The competence standard sets the standard for initial registration as a Professional Engineer (RegEng) with the Professional Engineers Registration Board of PNG (PERB), and the standard for entry into the class of Member or Fellow with the Institution of Engineers PNG Inc (IEPNG).
One standard, two outcomes
Professional Engineer (RegEng)
Meeting this standard establishes the basis for initial registration as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Registration Board of PNG (PERB) — the statutory body governing the legal practice of engineering in Papua New Guinea.
Member or Fellow of IEPNG
The same standard sets the bar for entry into the Member or Fellow class of the Institution of Engineers PNG Inc (IEPNG) — recognising the engineer within the national professional community.
